2010 Summer Fete

Our 2010 Summer Fete was held in the grounds of St Cedd's Church on Saturday 17th July and raised £777 for church funds. Thanks to all who helped out and supported this event.

Christmas Bazaar

Our Christmas 2009 Bazaar was held at St Cedd's Church on Saturday 28th November. £782 was raised for church funds. Thanks to Thelma Baldry, Gill Holland and Betty Crooks for organising this year's Bazaar, and to all who helped make this such a success.

Harvest Services

Our Harvest Services were held on Sunday 4th October 2009. £520 was raised for Chikupira Foundation.

2009 Summer Fete

Our 2009 Summer Fete was held on Saturday 18th July and raised nearly £1,000 for church funds (£848.49 raised by activities on the day of the fete plus a very generous donation of £150). Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this a success and all those who came to support the Fete.

Eastertide Entertainment 

Our special Easter concert, on Saturday 18th April 2008 at 7.30pm in St Cedd's Church, raised £537 towards Church funds. Many thanks for the Eastertide Entertainment provided by Thurrock Male Voice Choir with Tim Sentance as guest soloist, performing on violin and saxophone.

Christmas 2008 Charity Appeals

Over Christmas 2008 we raised funds for the following charities, through collections at Christmas services: The Children's Society - £323.71; Leprosy Mission - £172.62; St Luke's Hospice - £172.61; Tilbury Lighthouse Seafarers' Mission - £172.61. Many thanks to all who gave so generously

Chikupira Harvest Appeal 2008

In 2008, we supported the Chikupira Foundation with our Harvest collections and donations. Chikupira is a charity which is helping to support the rebuilding and development of a school in Malawi. We raised a total of £458.36 - thanks to all who contributed. To find out more about the Chikupira Foundation, click here.

Christmas Bazaar - Saturday 29th November 2008

In 2008, our annual Parish Bazaar was held at St Cedd's Church and in the Parish Hall at 2pm on Saturday 29th November. The total amount raised towards church funds was £755.29. Many thanks to Anne Sentance, Thelma Baldry and all who helped to make the event such a great success.

Summer Fete - Saturday 19th July 2008

In 2008, our annual Summer Fete was held on Saturday 19th July, in the grounds of St Cedd's Church, and a total of over  £900 was raised for church funds. The Fete featured a wide variety of stalls, together with games, children's races, live music from Revelation and an excellent barbeque provided by Simbo and Dayo Adenugba. The Fete also featured the opportunity to throw wet sponges at our Rector, Andy Higgs (see picture)!

Christian Aid Week - 2008

In 2008, our Parish raised a total of £1,847 for Christian Aid through collections and special events. Special thanks are due to Brenda Smallcombe who organised the effort and all who helped collect money and supported events. One of the fundraising events we held this year was an afternoon of cream teas at St Mary's Church (see picture on the left), which raised a total of £110. 

Confirmation Service - Sunday 17th February 2008

On Sunday 17th February we hosted a Confirmation Service for members of our congregation and neighbouring churches, at St Mary's Church North Stifford. Four members of our church fellowship were confirmed: Avril Frampton, Peter Stephens - who is the drummer in our worship band, Revelation, Maureen Sills and Sam Castell-Finegold.

2008 Annual Meeting

Our 2008 Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) was held on Sunday 20th April, immediately after the morning service at St Cedd's.  The APCM provides members of the church with an opportunity to hear reports and raise questions on church finance and administration. It is also the occasion when we elect churchwardens and members of the PCC.

The meeting elected new members of the Deanery Synod and the PCC. Click here to find out who is on the PCC.

New chairs

In January 2008, we purchased new chairs for St Cedd's church to replace the original chairs which were installed when the Church was built in 1955. An appeal to raise money for the new chairs was launched in 2005, St Cedd's 50th anniversary year, and the PCC placed the order for the new chairs in late 2007.

The purchase of the new chairs followed the internal redecoration of the church. The picture (left) shows the new chairs installed in the newly redecorated church!
