About us

St Mary's is our Parish Church. It is located in the village of North Stifford.

St Mary's is a very ancient church, dating back to Norman times. It has many interesting historical and architectural features. See our History page for details and follow the links for more detailed information.

St Mary's is a living centre of worship. Sunday morning Church services are at 11.15am, with the exception of the first Sunday of the month when there is an evening communion service instead at 4pm (winter months) or 6.30pm.

It is also a popular location for baptisms and weddings.

You will always find a warm welcome at St Mary's Church, North Stifford. Come and visit us soon!

We are delighted that the first phase of restoration at St Mary's is now complete. This has included the installation of a toilet and new kitchen facilities, enclosure of the tower area (see left), complete rewiring and overhaul of the heating. We are extremely grateful for the support provided by Cleanaway, Mardyke Trust, WREN and Friends of Essex Churches for this work.

We are grateful for the support of the following organisations which have contributed to the restoration of St Mary's Church:
